Artist Statement
Since I was a child, I have been involved in art in some manner. I dreamed of becoming an artist and pursued a fine art major in college. Though I finally decided on industrial design as my major (with a concentration in interiors), I continued taking art, photography, color theory and art history classes on my own during and well past college. I practiced as a commercial interior designer for 10 years and honed my sense for design, proportion and color. It was during my design career that I began taking fused glass classes (in 2000). I immediately fell in love with the vibrant colors, the simplicity of form and the endless design possibilities. It was a true blend of everything that I had learned. I was hooked! It was not until 2011 however, that I took the plunge and bought my own kiln and set up a home studio. Saro Designs was born. It is a passion, a dream fulfilled, and an exciting journey. I look forward to the time I spend in my studio creating and hope that what I create will brighten someone else's day!
